Questions from guests
Short answers to the most frequent questions of people who ask for a place to stay.
What is a request?
It is a question to the host about free dates. It is not a booking. The host answers you, and you agree the details together.
Who is my contract with?
With the host of the property. The host's details — the name or business name and if the host rents as a trader — are on the property page in About the host. LocalBook is only a tool for requests.
Must I create an account?
No. You only need your full name and your e-mail address.
How much will I pay for the stay?
On the property page, in Price and terms, you find the price from, what is included, mandatory surcharges, the local fee, the deposit and the security deposit. When you choose the dates, an estimate shows next to the form: nights × price from, mandatory surcharges and the local fee. You agree the exact amount with the host — you get it in the e-mail after the host accepts the request.
Must I pay for a request?
No. LocalBook does not charge guests. Discuss the price, the deposit and the payment method with the host.
When does the host answer?
This depends on the host. If you do not get an answer for a long time, phone or write to the host. The contact data is on the property page.
Do I get an e-mail from LocalBook?
Yes. Right after you send the request, you get a confirmation. Then you get an e-mail with the decision of the host. You can reply to these e-mails. The reply goes to the host.
The calendar shows the dates as free. Can I be sure that I can come?
The calendar shows confirmed stays and dates that the host closed. But the host can have a booking from a different site that is only some hours old. You can be sure only when the host confirms the stay.
Who can see my data?
Only the host of the property that you ask about. Nobody sees your data on the property page. LocalBook deletes the data after a set time: Privacy and data retention.
How do I change or cancel a request?
Every e-mail from LocalBook has a See your request button. It opens a private page that shows the status of the request, the payment details and — after the confirmation — the address and the arrival information.
- You can withdraw a request that the host has not answered yet, or a stay that waits for the payment (before the host marks it): click Withdraw the request. The dates become free for other guests.
- The host cancels a confirmed stay, or a stay that you already paid for, under their cancellation terms. Click Ask the host to cancel — we send the host your request.
Do you want to change the dates or the number of guests? Write to the host and give the request number.
I lost the link to my request
On the page with the link that does not work, enter the request number and your e-mail. If they match, we send a new link and the old link stops working. Do not give the link to other people: anyone with the link can see your request.
