Getting started

Getting started as a host

From a new account to the first request from a guest, step by step, in about 20 minutes.

This guide shows the full path: from an account in LocalBook to the first request from a guest. Do the steps in sequence.

1. Create an account

  1. Go to the LocalBook home page and click Create an account.
  2. Enter your full name, your e-mail address and a password (8 characters or more). You can also click Sign up with Google.
  3. Accept the terms of service and the privacy policy. Click Create account.
  4. Open the e-mail from LocalBook and click the confirmation link. Then log in.

2. Apply for the host role

Each new account is a standard user account. To add a property, you must have the host role.

  1. In the dashboard, click Apply to become a host.
  2. Enter your phone number. Select if you apply as a private person or as a company.
  3. Click Submit application. A LocalBook administrator examines the application.

When the administrator approves the application, you get the e-mail "You are now a host on LocalBook". More: Apply for the host role.

3. Complete your host details

In the menu, click Host details and enter your legal details. Guests see them on your properties. More: Complete your host details.

4. Add a property

  1. In the menu, click Properties, then Add a property.
  2. Enter the name, type, address, maximum guests, minimum stay and the contact data for guests.
  3. Click Create property, then complete the items listed under To complete in the property's Overview (description, cancellation terms, registration).

Only you can see a draft. More: Add a property.

5. Publish the property

In the property's header in the dashboard, click Publish. Guests can now see the property page and send requests.

6. Show the property to guests

The Share tab has two items:

  • Property page for guests: an address. Send it to guests or put it on social media.
  • Code for your website: if you have a website, paste this code. Guests then see the calendar and the request form on your website.

More: Share your property.

7. Get the first request

When a guest sends a request, you get the e-mail "New request". A request does not take the dates. Contact the guest, agree the details, then confirm the stay in the dashboard. More: Answer a request.
