How it works
How requests work
Why a request is not a booking and when the dates become taken.
LocalBook works like a conversation between a guest and a host. It is not an automatic booking system.
The guest asks. The guest selects dates in the calendar and sends a request. The guest does not pay and makes no commitment.
The host answers. The host contacts the guest and agrees the details: the arrival time, pets, the deposit. Then the host confirms or rejects the request in the dashboard.
The confirmation takes the dates. Only a confirmed stay closes the dates: on the property page, in the code on the website of the host and in the channel calendars.
Why a request does not take the dates
If each request took the dates, one guest who cannot decide could close a full week. Many guests can ask about the same dates. The host selects which request to confirm.
What prevents double bookings
- Two confirmed stays cannot overlap. LocalBook does not let you confirm the second stay.
- When you confirm a request, LocalBook checks the Booking.com and Airbnb calendars again, if the property imports them.
- If a booking from a different site still overlaps a stay, LocalBook sends an e-mail to the host.
